Taroona are through to the semi-finals of the Women’s State-wide Cup.
They beat Metro 4-1 at a well-lit North Chigwell tonight on a still but cold night that was perfect for football.
Sarah Townsend gave Taroona the lead early in the match with a fine shot on the turn, but Metro came back strongly.

Metro hit the right-hand upright with a long-range shot shortly afterwards, and then Caitlin Roughsedge hit the equaliser.
Metro’s failure to mark Holly Ayton proved their undoing.

Ayton was keen to shoot from range and she successfully did so twice to give Taroona a 3-1 lead at the interval.
The game was quite even in the second half, but Daisy Parsell added a fourth goal for the visitors to give them a 4-1 win and a berth in the semi-finals.
