Seoul E-Land will start May with the last of a long stretch of away games in the 2022 K League 2. It was a run that produced some mixed results for the Leopards, so they would certainly like to end life on the road with a win and three points.
That will be no easy task though as their first game of May will be against league leaders Gwangju FC. Moreover, May brings four games where three of the teams are looking to be named champions come October. Michael Redmond looks at what happened in April, and what is to come this month for Seoul E-Land.
A Mixed Bag April
Seoul started the first two games away from home against Jeonnam Dragons in Gwangyang, followed by Bucheon1995 in the Bucheon Stadium. Both games ended in draws.
It was then onto the Daejeon World Cup stadium to face off against an in-form Masa and his Daejeon Hana Citizens. The game ended in a 2-1 loss. However, Daejeon were predominantly the better team on that occasion.

After picking up a total of two points out of nine, it was Busan and the Asiad Stadium that was the next stop. Facing off against a struggling Busan IPark who only had one win all season. It took the home side 22 seconds to score. Ahn Byeong-jun again with another goal against Seoul. Luckily, the Leopards were able to pull it back and won 2-1, giving them their third win of the season.
The last game saw Seoul once again move their home fixture at Mokdong. It was a now a trip to Jinju to face off against Gyeongnam Fc. Any good form or push from the Busan game was quickly subdued as Gyeongnam ran riot throughout the game and a 3-1 loss was given to the Leopards. This result handed Gyeongnam their first win against Seoul on the 9th time of asking.
Seoul managed five points out of a possible fifteen in April. With Gwangju just around the corner, they will be looking to hopefully cause an upset. The Leopards have already dropped ten points away from home in this run. They will not like to make it thirteen.
Maybe in May
Seoul has a lot of work on its plate in the month of May. It will all start with a trip away from home against Gwangju Fc. That will then be followed by a midweek game against Gimpo. That match will be the return back to Mokdong Leoul Park and hopefully a better pitch.

Then it will be against Anyang Fc and Daejeon Hana Citizen that will try to mute the Leopards. These two games in particular will be important as both Anyang and Daejeon have been strong this year and are both looking to be top of the tree come October.
May could really be the month for Seoul where they look back on it and say that this is what helped them in the promotion push. It could also be the month that put their dreams to bed.
Not Only Seoul
At the time of this publication, Seoul sits 7th in the K League 2 table. Below them are; Jeonnam Dragons, Gimpo, Ansan Greeners, and Busan. Out of that pack, you would really have thought that Jeonnam and Busan may have been higher.

Jeonnam has the excuse of saying they had the Asian Champions League on their minds and they do currently have a game in hand against Seoul. Busan IPark however, is having a disaster. They are currently sat bottom of the division with one win, three draws, and eight losses. Busan are currently having a worse season than the 2019 Seoul E-Land side that finished the season with only five wins all year.
Ansan Greeners are still yet to actually record a victory this year and have six draws to put them level with Busan. Ansan and Busan seem to be having a lot of issues on the pitch, and they don't seem to be going anywhere soon.
In saying that, we saw last year a 2021 Seoul E-Land side dominate the first couple of games, to then free fall down the table and finish 9th. So there is still time for anyone in the division to go off the boil and plummet down the table.
Final Thoughts
It is completely unknown what will happen to this Seoul E-Land side come the end of May. They have a squad of real talent, and when they can all play in unison, they can dominate games. However, the opposite has happened for the majority of the season and we now look at Seoul on a game by game basis.
Seoul really needs to kick it into gear if they are to come away with anything this year. Seoul desperately needs a striker up front who can score goals for them. This is something that is lacking this year. Seoul has a trait of playing well against the big teams in the past, so hopefully, they can ride on that and produce some respectable results throughout the month.
