The 2021 NPL Tasmania title will be decided tomorrow.
The winner will be either league-leaders Devonport Strikers, the reigning champions, or second-placed Glenorchy Knights.
It couldn’t be a tighter finish.
The scenarios are:
If either team loses and the other wins, the loser won’t win the title.
If both lose, Devonport will probably retain their title. But, it could still depend on the scorelines.
If Devonport win and Knights lose, therefore, it’s Devonport’s title.
If Devonport lose and Knights win, then it’s the Knights’ title.
If both Devonport and Knights win, it will come down to the score-lines as Devonport currently have the advantage on goal-difference.
The stage is set, therefore, for an exciting final day of league football.
Devonport travel to Lightwood Park to take on fourth-ranked Kingborough Lions United.Kingborough beat Devonport 2-0 in Launceston in the curtain-raiser to an A-League match at UTAS Stadium, while Devonport downed Kingborough 2-0 when they met at Valley Road.
Tomorrow’s game should be an enthralling contest, therefore, which could go either way.
Knights know they must probably beat Launceston City if they are to win the title and they must win by a large score-line.
Knights haven’t managed large score-lines in recent weeks and so the pressure will be on them.
In other games, South Hobart host Olympia Warriors at South Hobart Oval, and Clarence Zebras entertain Riverside Olympia at Wentworth Park in a bottom-of-the-table clash.
All games kick off at 2pm.
